Twenty one people from First Baptist Church of Ft. Walton Beach, Florosa Baptist Church and Wright Baptist Church traveled to Webster Springs, WV. for a week of mission work at the Mountain Marketplace Mission.
Home Sweet Home
During our stay in Webster Springs we stayed at Mineral Springs Motel. It is not only the finest motel in town, it is the only hotel in town.
Inside Construction
Bob Bennett, Charles Wimberly and Ralph White worked inside to lay linoleum and construct closets and storage rooms in the mission.
Putting their heads together
Don Setterburg and George Stone work together to get a porch railing constructed.
Our trusty helpers
Joey Halus and Lydia Phillips helped in many areas. This is the second trip to Webster Springs for both of them.
Getting Lunch Ready
Patty Roberson organized our lunches and helped with VBS. She was a very important member of our team.
Kitchen Helpers
Dale Peets and Lorraine Setterberg helped out in the kitchen and with many other tasks.
Discussing Lunch
Gloria Phillips and Dayle Peets discuss the possibilities for lunch. The ladies did a great job providing for the team's lunches.
Checkin it out
Kenny Phillips studies how he wants the new metal roof to wrap around the old shingle roof so that it can be leak-proof.
Packing Grocery Bags
Dale Peets, Lenna Mauldin pack bags of groceries that will be given out to the approximately 300 families that come to the mission each week.
Families Wait for Food
All day long on Thursdays the people patiently wait in line to receive a weeks groceries for their family. God provides food for the mission to give out week after week.
Planning Meeting
Mary Beth Mayes and Alice Stone make plans for the evening VBS.
VBS Worship Time
Alice Stone served as our VBS Director and with the help of Lisa Halus led the worship service. This year God blessed us with many decisions for Christ. All but one child in the Children's Departments either accepted Christ as their saviour or indicated they had already done so. We Praise God for his blessings upon our group.
Youth Class includes an 84 year-old!
Kenny Phillips taught a class of teenagers. One night a lady well beyond her teen years sat in on the class. She was a delightful Christian lady who ministers to the old and infirmed in her valley.
Children learn through activities
Marie Ireland works with some of the children during VBS small group time. She reports the children were very well behaved and very polite.
Older Children get special attention
Lenna Mauldin and Betty Clanton work with the older children. These children were very receptive to the Gospel message.
One Preschooler
Dorothy White and Rachel Clifford were prepared every night. On the last night they had their one and only child. However, their contributions to our mission trip were many and varied.
