Churches Serving Together to Fulfill the Great Commission

Substance Abuse Ministry

Substance Abuse and Recovery Ministry

This ministry is a continuation of the association’s Alcohol and Other Drug Ministry which began under the umbrella organization of Alcoholic's Victorious. The weekly Sunday morning time of informal worship and Bible-based study is held at the Detox Unit of Bridgeway as Sunday Devotions under their designation of "Spiritual Group."

In addition to distribution and use of Bibles and related evangelism material, there have been about 200 pairs of eye glasses donated for the vision ministry this year. Used and new glasses are donated by area church members and other individuals. These are placed by the display of reading materials for clients of both Detox and Crisis Stablization Units to select a pair that best meets their vision needs. Also provided for clients in both units are slipper socks (indoor footwear). These are re-cycled from a surgical center in Pensacola. They are washed, dried, and then re-matched by pairs. Approximately 18 dozen pairs are donated each year for both clients of the Detox (8 beds) and CSU (16 beds) residential facilities.

I wish it were possible to personally relate the great appreciation and hugs of thanks that are expressed to me regularly for the Bibles, glasses, etc. which are tokens of Christian love shown to those who, for the most part, must remain anonymous. Routinely, clients share experiences of commitment and/or re-commitment on a regular basis and through tearful hugs as I leave. These are verification that your ministry is making a difference in the lives of many clients which then extends to family members, the work place, etc. The two most requested prayer needs are for 'family' and to 'turn their lives around.'  I covet your prayers as I continue to serve our Lord and represent you in this ministry.
